Professional Genealogist Consultation
If you love to do your own genealogy research, but you are having difficulty making progress on a particular ancestral line, ask us for help! ProGenealogists associates have conducted research at the Family History Library for a combined span of over 120 years and they are all well acquainted with the resources available.
We can provide consultations by mail or fax; telephone; or in person, at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. Consultations are billed hourly at the rate of $75.00 per hour with a two hour minimum. Read more about our consultation service on the bottom of this page.

What Happens After You Pay for a Consultation?
First, we will wait to receive your family information. You can send that to us via e-mail, postal mail or fax (801) 596-3380 24 hours per day.
E-mail, Postal Mail or Fax the following:
- Family Group sheet and Pedigree chart with as many detailed vital records data (birth, marriage, death) as is currently available on the family,
- A list of sources and documents that you've previously studied,
- A specific lineage question or a statement of your research goal,
- A statement regarding any difficulties that you've experienced researching this family.
Then, one of ProGenealogists's skilled associates will examine your family group sheets, pedigree charts, review your previous research, and offer you some suggestions and research options to try on your own. The analysis and review of your materials is part of the consultation.
During the consultation process, whether it is in person, or via phone or correspondence, we'll offer you as many suggestions as possible in the time allotted. When the consultation is finished, we'll send you an invoice and receipt. If we made copies and/or subsequently mail items to you, the additional cost of the copies and the postage will be added to your invoice and billed to you.
When you place your order, you can request a specific associate, but you will need to be patient with regards to their current work load. If you permit us to assign an appropriately skilled associate to your consultations request, it may speed up the process.
