He has served twice as president of the Professional Chapter of the Utah Genealogical Association (1984 and 1987), on UGA's board (1987-1989), as UGA vice president (1987) and as editor of UGA's Genealogical Journal (1988-1993). In 1992 he was named a Fellow of the Utah Genealogical Association, an honor given in recognition of “meritorious service rendered to the advancement of Genealogy and Family History,” and in 1993 he received the UGA Annual Award for “outstanding service and contribution to the field of genealogy.” In October of 1999, he was elected the 145th Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists (FASG), an organization limited to fifty living members with election based on the quantity and quality of their published compiled genealogy.

Gordon L. Remington is an accomplished author. He was a contributing author to Ancestry’s The Source (1984 and 1997), and The Library, and has authored over forty articles in scholarly and professional genealogical journals. In 2002, Mr. Remington published two books on research in New York State - New York State Towns, Villages, and Cities, A Guide to Genealogical Sources and New York State Probate Records, A Genealogist's Guide to Testate and Intestate Records.

In a review of New York State Towns, Villages, and Cities, Marsha H. Rising, CG, FASG, said: "No one knows New York research better than Gordon Remington. In this compact book, formatted in easy-to-use tables of New York towns and their records, Remington provides more pertinent information for the genealogical researcher than most 200 page texts. Difficult New York research will become much easier now that this guide is available.”

Mr. Remington is available for research cases involving 20th Century research, Mid-West, Mid-Atlantic, New England and immigration problem solving, New York, and New England states research. He is also quite skilled with research in the British Isles and Scandinavian countries.  Please click here to request a free estimate for your genealogical research in these areas.
