Schleswig-Holstein
The following resources are for the part of Schleswig-Holstein which is now part of Germany:
- Alphabetical list of Parishes (includes archive addresses where the church records for each parish can be found and the name of the county or estate where the parish is found in the census records)
- 1835, 1840, 1845, 1855, 1860 Census Records and other sources
- Parish Maps
Articles:
- Naming Customs, including examples from Schleswig-Holstein
- 1762 Census
The Alphabetical and Reverse Sort Listing of towns in Schleswig-Holstein which was on this site before, I have taken this off temporarily as the author wants to consider publishing it separately.
A colleague, Loraine Ferguson who publishes German Genealogy Digest, has been creating a comprehensive genealogy gazetteer for Schleswig-Holstein for many years now. She hopes to publish it in the spring of 2001. Because of that I have only created guides for finding the church records and census records, and the parish maps listed above and will wait to see her book for the genealogy gazetteer. I may add information on military and land records in Schleswig-Holstein here later as well as they are amazing sources for genealogy and family history.
