The follow alphabetical and reverse alphabetical listing of all the cities, towns, villages, and crofts in the Schleswig-Holstein region comes from the 1908 Prussian Gazetteer, Gemeindelexikon für das Königreich Preußen, Heft VIII, Provinz Schleswig-Holstein [943 E5kp Vol. 8; FHL #0806635, item 3; 1181005; or 1346209], which was based on the 1905 Census. From 1864-1920 this included a region which is now part of Denmark (Apenrade, Hadersleben, Sonderberg, and the northern part of Tondern Kreis; now counties of Tønder, Haderslev, and Aabenraa-Sønderborg Denmark).
