- Do you have a guarantee? ProGenealogists and its third party suppliers strive for excellence and accuracy. We guarantee that we will use our combined best efforts and many years experience to provide you with excellent, skilled assistance researching your family history. But, because every individual's family history is unique, it is not possible to guarantee results or that a certain sum of money will provide a client with a certain number of new ancestors or documents. This is true for the simple reason that it will never be known exactly what historical records hold for a client's family, until time is spent researching and studying the records.
- How far back can my ancestry be researched? Genealogists can generally research your family as far back as written records will allow. Research in extant written records for families who lived in well developed countries can be accomplished fairly successfully back to the mid-1600s. Record losses in some countries, such as Ireland, the Balkan States, the former Austrian Empire and other frequently embattled areas will hinder research significantly. Going back in time beyond 1600 with any accuracy at all may depend upon your ancestral family's wealth and/or social status. If they were of royal lineage or landed gentry, or of British, Germanic or Scandinavian origins, then there may be early records that will help continue your ancestral lines further back in time beyond 1600. Because every individual's family is unique, we won't know exactly how far back your ancestry can be traced, until the research has been completed.
- What can I get for free? We offer free content on our website in the form of links, tools, and educational material that will help you better understand available sources on and off the Internet.
