The Family Group Sheet

One of the first documents you'll start recording your family history with is the "Family Group Sheet." On this form you'll begin your genealogy research by recording:

bulletYour full name
bulletYour birth date
bulletYour birth place
bulletYour marriage date (if married)
bulletYour spouse's full name (if any)
bulletYour spouse's birth date
bulletYour spouse's birth place
bulletYour spouse's death date (if any)
bulletYour spouse's death place
bulletAll the same information about your children

With every added generation of ancestors (your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.), you'll need to start a new Family Group Sheet. It is important to the success of your genealogy research that you work hard to find and document every one of the vital events (birth, marriage and death) for your ancestors and their children.
