Åkær Estate
Åkær Estate is in Falling Parish. About 1350 Lars Truedsen of Gylling owned the estate. His daughter (Cecilie) married Markvard Rostrup. In 1386 Markvard Rostrup's children deed it to the bishop in Århus. Son-in-law Ove Krabbe in 1398 deed's his wife's interest in the estate to the bishop. The bishop's administrator's on Åkær include:

During the reformation the estate went into the hands of the crown and became part of Århusgaard, but in 1548 became a county of its own which Hads District (herred) belonged to.
Åkær main building. In 1546 county official was given instructions to build at Åkær and to cut wood in Maribo cloister forest. Along with Dronningborg and Koldinghus, Åkær became a residence for the royal family. In 1576 the county official was instructed to build up the farm so that the king could have a place to stay. It was not kept up well over the following years. The main building was destroyed about the time of the Swedish wars in the 1660s.
