Searched for the surname Conner. Did not find David and Allen Conner, even though it is known that they were enumerated in the 1900 U.S. census of Jeffreys Township, Florence County, South Carolina. This suggests that this compilation is incomplete.

Searched for variations of the surname Conner. Only found one reference to this surname, as follows from The Florence Weekly Times, 25 August 1898:

Page 160, “The news came yesterday afternoon of the death of Mrs. Mary McLendon, the mother of Sheriff R. McLendon. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Connor, just below Peniel Church.”

Searched for variations of the name Diedy Mack, searching for any woman who was listed as black, lived in Marion County, South Carolina, and was born 1851–1855. Found several women who fit this search criteria but no clear matches to the woman who was living with James Conner, Jr., in 1900.

“The extraction and compilation of the funeral home records of Florence County have been a project spanning several years and involving a number of people… We realize that there may be other records available, as the Afro-American funeral homes did not participate. Should these records become available to us, we will publish them separately… The earliest records are from 1918 and the earliest birth in the series is recorded as 1843.”

Each volume is individually indexed. Searched each volume for the surname Conner. Found quite a few references to the surname, but no reference to any of the children of James and Nelly Conner.

Scanned each page of this township for possible enumerations of the married daughters of James and Nellie Conner: Mary J. (born 1862/1863), Annie (born 1864/1865), Nellie (born 1869/1870), and Sallie (born 1876/1877).

There were many women named Mary and Ann and quite a few named Sarah or Sallie. Many of these women were about the right age. However, only one woman named Nellie was noted.
