HARRISON, Joseph LEIGH. Creditors: Elisabeth BARNHOUSE, Robert ARMSTRONG for
James BUCHANAN & Co. Next of kin: Ann BARNHOUSE, Elisabeth BARNHOUSE.
Executor: Jane BARNHOUSE.
Richard BARNHOUSE, b.bef. 1704, d. 1771 md. Jean/Jane (definitely not
Joanna - will says in old script Jeane and Prerogative Court records say Jean
BARNHOUSE, executrix).
1. Rudolph BARNHOUSE, b.bef. 1725
2. John BARNHOUSE, b. bef. 1728
3. Timothy BARNHOUSE, b.bef. 1731, d. 1764. md. Elizabeth, d. 1786. They had
the following children: Jane, Angela, William, Elizabeth, Ann and a daughter
who married William DIXON by 1786. Tim's age was derived by subtracting 12
years (2 years between the births of each child) from the last possible year
that Timothy could have had children (1764-12=1752). Then, I subtracted 21
years from 1752 (age of legal marriage) to get 1731 - the year by which time
Timothy had to have been born.
4. female BARNHOUSE, b.c. 1734, married ____ ROGERS. Child: Ann ROGERS born by
1770.
5. Richard BARNHOUSE, b.c. 1737
6. Caleb BARNHOUSE, b.c. 1740
Presuming that Richard BARNHOUSE, d. 1771 listed his children in order of
birth in his Last Will and Testament (as was standard and typical) and
presuming that my math is logically sound, then it is not possible that John
BARNHOUSE, Sr. of Randolph Co., VA is the son of Richard and Jean BARNHOUSE of
St. Marys Co., MD. The estimated age of the John BARNHOUSE (born before 1728)
of St. Marys Co., MD, son of Richard BARNHOUSE, d. 1771 is a full twenty and
perhaps as much as twenty five years earlier than the birth of John BARNHOUSE,
Sr. of Randolph Co., VA. John BARNHOUSE, Sr. of Randolph Co., VA (married
Mary) was still living in 1822. It is unlikely that this John BARNHOUSE was
born before 1728, as this would place his age as older than 94 years in 1822.
