A new look! I hope you like it - I thought it was about time for a new color scheme <g>. Several new photos from Ken Barnhouse and Andy Morris added. Bob Westall updated our database with some new information on the family of Perry and Susan (Westall) Barnhouse. New family members were added to the children of Hamilton Barnhouse, who we found in the 1900 census of Monroe County, Ohio, and we were alerted to these children by John Shriver. Dean Hickman sent updated material the descendants of John Barnhouse, specifically children of Flora Bennington. Several updates were made to our Barnhouse Researcher's list (please keep your email addresses up to date). Many smaller additions and corrections were made to the website. Thanks to everyone for helping! A special thanks to Theresa Seidel, who continues to help immensely with queries and guest book entries!

I updated the researcher list with several new researchers - Welcome Aboard! Barbara B. Johnson noted that in the descendants of John and Eliza (Shillingburg) Barnhouse there was an error made regarding their son, William. It was incorrectly recorded that William L. Barnhouse was the son of John and Eliza (Shillingburg) Barnhouse and that William F. Barnhouse was their son, instead. This was based upon Civil War records which document William's siblings. This has been updated.

Information on the descendants of Flora Bennington, daughter of Rachel Barnhouse, was provided by Dean Hickman and her family sheets on this site were updated. These are my relatives ... nice to know more about them. Howard Bergh, a descendant of Adelbert L. Barnhouse, sent us the obituary of Rose I. (Bonney) Barnhouse. Thank you, Rex, Howard and Dean.

Added over 40 death certificates from West Virginia for some Barnhouses I found in the WV Death Index. You'll find them peppered in the appropriate places within the WV State list of records. Updated the Frederick and Loudoun Co., Virginia Barnhouses; specifically the family of Nelson and Christina (Stocks) Barnhouse. New data and descendant information was given by Elizabeth (Barnhouse) Ward. Elizabeth also made some corrections, so get the White-Out handy!

Updated Christopher Barnhouse descendency with information from Audrey Franklin.  Thanks Audrey!  Also updated theresearcher's list with new email addresses.  Made a significant correction to the descendency of Henry and Matilda (Yost) Barnhouse concerning their daughter Lavinia J. Barnhouse. She married Gudlow H. Broyles in 1854 in Grant Co., IN and was living with him in 1880.  She did not, apparently, marry anyone by the name Thomas Haught in Marion Co., Virginia in 1857.  Please correct your databases, or drop me a line if you disagree, etc. Thanks to Nancy Gates for alerting us to this discrepancy!

The 1812 pension record of Richard Barnhouse documented the ancestry of the several Barnhouse families who lived in early Frederick, Co., Maryland, Loudoun Co., Virginia and Washington, D.C.  The family of Richard and Margaret Jane (White) Barnhouse of Frederick Co., Maryland has been added to our collection of "branches."  Thanks to James Heflin, Timi Bass, and Christos Christou whose notes and photographs have helped develop this new line.

This bible verifies birth dates of the children of Philip and Mary (Goff) Barnhouse and adds some children that we didn't know that they had! I'm still analyzing Richard and Jean Barnhouse descendants of St. Mary's Co., MD. Does anyone have census records for Caleb Barnhouse in 1800, 1810 or 1820? I need Loudoun Co., VA early censuses for Barnhouse, too (1784-1830).

Letter from Kay Barnhouse Stout received.  Among other items, she states in the letter (quote):  "I can now identify 3 (three) separate [Barnhouse] lines in Jefferson, Harrison & Carroll.  No. 1 are Christoph & his children - George, John, Julianna, Peter & Susannah, and their children.  No. 2 - there is Francis from Harford Co./Baltimore, Maryland area & his children & related family members, allegedly from England and possibly descendents of the English sea captain Richard of Jamestown VA circa 1630s; and No. 3 - Jacob & wife Sarah Capper from Hampshire Co., VW/WV . . . Also, after at least 20 years of trying to sort out the Loudoun Co., VA Barnhouses who have been or are currently living in Loudoun Co., I believe I can safely say that they are descendents of the Harford Co. / Baltimore bunch NOT the Hessians! . . . Back to the erroneous info . . . the Margaret who married Daniel SIMMONS would be the Widow of Christoph & Rosina's son John who died. I now have deeds to support this (there were 3 marriages for Margaret Barnhouses in that area in 1820 & 1830 all 3 different people).  Christoph's Jacob & the Jacob who married Sarah Capper are two different people!"
