Descendants of Jacob Barnhouse and Sarah Capper
Jacob BARNHOUSE was closely associated with John BARNHOUSE in early tax and census records in Hampshire County, Virginia and Jacob may also be related to these men. John BARNHOUSE (married Rachel BAKER) is first found in records in the 1804 Hampshire County, Virginia tax records. He was enumerated for many years in Hampshire County with Henry BARNHOUSE (md. Anna BAKER). Sometime between 1809 and 1815, Henry moved to Monongalia County, Virginia (in a portion now encompassing Marion County, Virginia). The tax records suggest that Henry BARNHOUSE paid taxes on John BARNHOUSE in the year 1803. Other records imply that John and Henry BARNHOUSE were brothers.
