Barnhouse Genealogy Guests 1999
Dear Natalie, I'm assuming that you are Melvin and Carolyn's daughter? John is my husband. We retired from Columbus Public Schools and moved into the house that was Fitzpatrick's Orchards. I have gotten interested in genealogy and Santa brought me a new computer for Christmas. I have no idea how I found your site. You have done a terrific job! I've been reading it all afternoon. I have gotten a lot of information from it on the Barnhouses and Cottrills. Thank you so much. Kathy
Seeking information for Martha Jane Barnhouse, born October 22, 1850 in Ohio, deceased December 7, 1939 in Pasadena, CA. Married John O'Neill. One child, Estella Edith O'Neill, born 1869 in Eureka, Illinois.
I am one of Michael Barnhouse's great great great granddaughter's, (I think thats right) my great grandfather was George Barnhouse, who you have listed as being born in 1871. I have a photo's of Sheppard (my great great)in his civil war uniform. I also have what I believe to be a picture of either Sheppard or George and the family in the early part of this or latter part of the last century. I am trying to get information together for my family. My great aunt is still living and has the family bible. Please email me if I can be of any help.
I just found this page after a search on my name. Some interesting stuff, but a bit disappointing to see it limited to the U.S. I am a Barnhouse from Devon, England. If this is of interest to anyone then I can be contacted at my E-mail address and I will see what I can do to help.
I have very little information of my paternal grandmother, Cora Barnhouse who married Frank V. Moore in Nebraska in late 1800s. She died in Holton, KS, in 1948 or 1949. Would appreciate any information you might have. I am very new to this research and enjoy checking into this web sight. Thank you for all the time and effort.
I really enjoy this page. I'm from St.Louis Missouri (originally Doe Run, Mo.) My fathers name is Norman and my Grandfathers name was Esta but of course everyone called them both BARNEY. E-Mail me if I can be of any help.
Looking for Bodimer Family
Although I am not related to the Barnhouse line I did considerable research in central WV for Ann Moore of Topeka, KS, who is related. The Barnhouse's were in Monongalia,Randolph, Barbour,Pendelton, Counties of VA & WV There are still Barnhouse's listed in the phone directory here. What a interesting family! I did so enjoy your web page and read all the comments. I sure wish there were more like them. This sure helps bring a family together! Congradulations Natalie! I am looking for all members of the German Bornhaus family, which left Germany, Hessia in the years after 1750. With best regards Reimund Beck. I am living in the village with the name Datterode, where Christopher BARNHOUSE was born in 14 Oct 1757. My interest in the Barnhouse family was triggered by the good connections of our History Society Datterode, Ringgau, Germany to some members of the Barnhouse famliy and several visits of them here in Germany. Your site is an good designed an a very good information for us. Excuse, that the URL of our village is not in english.
Just wondering what the connection is between Barnhouse and Barnthouse.
I tried to submit a request. My great great grandpa was James L. Coonts born May 16, 1807 in Virginia. He married a lady named Elizabeth. They moved to Parke, Indiana and then to Douglas County Missouri. My great grandpa was John Coonts born January 1856 in Drury, Missouri. The family owned a lot of land in Douglas County. Did my submit go through? Joy Firrell
I love the way your resource centre is set up. Any tips for my LINFORD resource centre?
I visited your sight because it was listed under Biscoe references in Family find. Was unable to find the database listing Biscoe. Thanks.

Great pages, ran across this by incident. I'm searching for Jordan, Mitchell, Marshall, and Harris. Nice job.
Nice site. I'm also researching the Cordrey/Cordray family. Do you know the family line of Thomas Davis Cordrey? How many Thomas Cordrey's were in Ohio between 1800 and 1840? I'm the Great Great Grandson of Eleanor Cordrey, daughter of Thomas Davis Cordrey of Maryland who married Dorcus O'brian abt. 1774. Have a nice day. John
I was just told about this site from Linda Shecklers father, whom I'm trying to work with on our branches. My mother (Betty Stewart) was a Barnhouse, being the daughter of Charles Flors and Nellie M. (Fuller) Barnhouse. This site has helped us tremendously. Thank you!
I have been searching for my roots and found a lot of information on the Barnhouse Family. I still do not know which branch I belong to. My Great Grand Father and GGMother came to Milano Texas in the 1870's to settle. I don't remember his given name but my GGMother was Catherine Wheeler. We also have some picture taken in Iowa and North Dekota with a Nancy Sturm. I believe Nancy Sturm was a Barnhouse. I also have a photo of Henry Wheeler and wife. No other information.
Great page, Natalie. I'm here looking for Coonts ancestors, sent by a cousin, Joy Ann Coonts Firrell, who has already written to you. Thank you for allowing me to look through your web page. Jim.
I am related to Elizabeth Barnhouse daughter of William and Mary (her husband was John Bowlin). I found Allen Donald Tallman's web page fascinating. Thank you Allen for your work.

Was researching my ancestor Nimrod Cottrill and came across your web site. Nimrod was a son of Henry Cottrill and Rebekah Dailey. Henry died in Meigs, Ohio on 17 Feb. 1869. Don't know how he is related to your Cottrill line. Henry's father was Andrew born about 1784 in Lewis, Virginia. Good luck with your site.
I'm researching my mother-in-laws side of the family. Her maiden name is Cottrill. I've been able to trace her family back to Doddridge Co.,WV back to the early 1800's. I enjoyed looking at your site, and I do think our family links up,but I'm not yet sure where. My mother-in-law is Joanna Belle Lee Cottrill. She was named after her grandmother Joanna Cottrill, who delivered her namesake just a month before her death at the age of 71.
I didn't know this page existed until I received an invitation to a Barnhouse Family Reunion in West "By Gosh" Virginia. My mother is Ernie Barnhouse and her mother and father were Marshall and Georgia Barnhouse. The reunion is Saturday, June 12 and I am anxiously awaiting this grand event. Thanks to my Uncle Jack Barnhouse for coordinating this grand ocassion.
I am searching for my husband's family. His father's name is Eugene Howard Cottrill, and his Grandparents were William Cottril and his wife Rosa. The family lived in Clarksburg, WVA.

Looking for missing folks in my Beall line and I see that you have quite a few McElwain, Barnhouse, Berry - we are from Lewis-Gilmer, Braxton counties - would like to talk with you.
Just discovered your page. I'm a novice at genealogy. So far, the farthest back I know is my great-grandfather, James Barnhouse, and my grandfather, John Nelson Barnhouse, born 1887 in Nebraska. I thought the Barnhouse family was small; looks as if there are many branches!
WOW!!! this site is great while looking up Green, for someone else found my own family of McElwain [Wayne] I'm still looking at everything, Great job!
What a great site. Filled in alot of info about my Barnhouse ancestors. All from the Internet no less. I do have information on the descendants of +25 George E. Barnhouse, Jr. (George, Christopher, Georg, Jacob). How would I go about adding it to the Barnhouse database? -- Dan Cooley San Mateo CA
CommentsMy Barnhouse ancestry supposedly comes from Hess, Germany during the Revolutionary War, and then became Quakers. This is the information my grandfather, David William Barnhouse gave to me as a young girl. Barnhouse is my mother's maiden name. I am trying to verify this through my WebTV with no luck. This is the first day though of trying through the web. I hope to meet other Barnhouses related to me.
Hi I was researching my James Leggett line and stumble across your site, I think your Leggetts and mine are related, I will do more research, let you know.
