10. George BARNHOUSE

WILL: Jefferson County Ohio Wills; Page 472.
Information from Will Record:
"George BARNHOUSE's Will. I George BARNHOUSE, of the County of Jefferson i the State of Ohio, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manne and form following. First It is my will that my funeral expenses, and all my just debts shall be fully paid. Second I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Susannah BARNHOUSE, the plantation on which we now reside, situated in Springfield Township, County and State aforesaid, containing one hundred and forty acres, being part of the South East quarter of Section 22 township 11 Range 4 during her natural life if she sees proper to hold the same and all the livestock, horses, cattle, sheep and Hogs with all the personal property to dispose of the same at pleasure. And at the decease of my said wife, all the property hereby divised or bequeathed to her as aforesaid or so much thereof as may then remain unexpended, to be sold at public sale and the proceeds to be divided amongst my lawful heirs, equally except my oldest son Benjamin BARNHOUSE, who shall not have as much as either of the other lawful heirs because he has already One hundred dollars more than any of the other heirs, therefore each and every one of my other lawful heirs or their heirs, shall first receive one hundred dollars each, after my said wifes death. And lastly, I hereby constitute and appoint my said wife, Susannah BARNHOUSE, and Jacob SMITH, of the township, County and State aforesaid to be the Executors of this my last will and testament. In testimony thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty-third day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eigh hundred and thirty three. George BARNHOUSE. Signed, published and declared by the above named George BARNHOUSE as and for his last will and testament in presense of us, who at his request have signed as witnesses to the same. Also Susanna Fox/Fuchs was definitely born Feb. 1, 1777 and baptized April 20, 1777. Her sponsor was Susanna, wife of John Philip Angleberger in Frederick, Frederick Cty, MD. She was the daughter of Henrich Fuchs who later used the surname FOX and Anna Eva Simon, daughter of Balthazar Simon and Margaretha. She married Henrich in 1772 and had two sons and two daughters prior to early untimely death Dec. 4, 1779 of a high fever. She was born Feb. 24, 1753. Kay Stout is being notified of this information. 13. Julianna BARNHOUSE

From Kay Barnhouse Stout. Julianna and Isaac HIBBS moved to Tuscarawas County with the Thomas DOTTS family. Mr. HIBBS died and the DOTTS family moved to Iowa. Julianna was not buried with Isaac HIBBS. Did she move to Iowa?

Information from Birth Record: "Christoph BOERNHAUSS and w/Rosina parents of Susanna b. 1 Aug 1804; Wit: Susanna FUCHS."

MARRIAGE: Steubenville Courthouse, Jefferson County, Ohio.
Information from Marriage Record: "I do hereby certify that on the 4th day of April last, I joined Lamdon RACEY and Susanna BARNHOUSE in the holy estate of matrimony. Both of lawfull age. Given under my hand and Seal - This 17th day of June, 1822. Marriage Record #2, Page 269. John SHOBER, J. Peace."

Information from Marriage Record: "I do hereby certify that on the 4th day of April last, I joined Lamdon RACEY and Susanna BARNHOUSE in the holy estate of matrimony. Both of lawfull age. Given under my hand and Seal - This 17th day of June, 1822. Marriage Record #2, Page 269. John SHOBER, J. Peace."

BIOGRAPHY: Frank M. Martin, "The County of Noble," (OH: 1904), pages 143-144 Information from Biography:
"Landon RACEY, an early settler of Noble county, was born in Hampshire county, Va., in 1796. He received but three months schooling, but having stron determination and a mind to work he fitted himself for a teacher in the schools of that time. He lived in Virginia until manhood, when he came to Ohio, locating in Harrison county, where he became acquainted with Miss Susannah BARNHOUSE, who was a native of Loudoun county, Va., and whom he married; they afterwards moved to Morgan, now Noble county. To them were born fifteen children of whom but four are living: George A., of Noble; Peter, of Oregon; Samuel of Iowa; and Arthur W., of Caldwell. Landon RACEY died in 1855, his wif surviving him fourteen years. Arthur W. RACEY was born in Noble county, March 31, 1840; he was a resident there until 1859, when he went to Missouri, Iowa an Illinois, locating in Illinois where he worked on a farm until the war broke out; he then enlisted in Company E, Fourteenth Illinois infantry, May 24, 1861. The first eight months were spent in Missouri, wintering at Otterville, near Sedalia; the regiment moved to Fort Henry and crossed to Fort Donelson, and after the fall of the latter point it proceeded to Pittsburg Landing; taking part there and at Hatchie River, and in the siege of Vicksburg. He was mustere out at Springfield, Ill., June 24, 1864, and returned to Noble county, Ohio, th same year. He was married Sept. 7, 1865, to Nancy B. McGEE, a native of Amsterdam, Jefferson county, Ohio, his wife being a daughter of William and Elizabeth McGEE, who located in Noble county in 1841. Mr. RACEY is a member of the Masonic order and of the Grand Army of the Republic; he and his wife are members of the Methodist Protestant Church."
