BIOGRAPHY: Biography from an invitation to a Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary party held December 24, 1978. Information from Biography: "The courtship of May PENDLETON and Frank COTTRILL started in the hills of Vinton County, then wedding bells rang in Gallipolis, Ohio December 24, 1928. After the wedding they came back to Vinton County to make it their life long home. They had six children -- Minnie, Virgil, twins Pauline and Paul (double trouble), Shirley, and Beverly. This kept them busy with doctoring many scratches and bruises, and many tears to wipe away. Shortly after Beverly, the baby, arrived, dad was drafted into the Army in 1944. Later discharged he went back to farming. He now considers himself more or less semi-retired, and enjoys eating out, going to movies, attending the stock sales, and visiting their daughter Pauline in Florida, and her family, Virgil, Minnie, and Beverly in Northern Ohio, and their families, and Shirley, and Paul that live nearby. They have fourteen grand-children, and five great grand-children, and one on the way. Dad still loves to fish. Remember the time dad and mom packed lunch and drove to Lake Rupert for some fishing, then discovered they packed everything but the fishing tackle. Thelma remembers the sneakie way her and mom used to run off to Earl's Store in Radcliff for ice-cream, and the old silent movies they enjoyed together on Saturday night at the Old Virginia Theatre in Wellston. This was Carl, Thelma, May, and Frank, back in 1929. Goldie still remembers a few years back when her and mom were berry picking, and a bad storm came up. They were hurrying home, and mom was trying to get the gate open, she slipped and fell, oops, an accident, then got up laughing and said, "oh well, I'm wet anyway". Another time May and Frank went to the Northern part of Ohio and went on a African Safari. Dad left his window down and as mom tells it, a camel took part of his ear. Dad has worked out a system for hunting, -- takes the tractor."
