OBITUARY:  From the "Farmington News," Newspaper, Farmington, Missouri. Friday September 17, 1920.
Information from Obituary:
CARICO J. BARNHOUSE was born May 23rd, 1831 in the State of Virginia and died on Sept. 11th 1920 at his home near Doe Run. He was married to Miss Emma Wood in Ohio on Octber 30, 1856. In the year of 1866 he, with his family, came to Missouri and settled on the farm where he died. Seven children were born to this union, five of whom are living and are Mrs. Sarah Warsing of Alma, Ark.; Mrs. Amanda Williams of Farmington; Mrs. Mary Johnson of Doe Run; John Barnhouse of Fredericktown; Charles, who is at home with his Mother. The funeral was conducted at Pendleton Church at 12 o'clock on last Monday by Rev. J. P. McDonald; interment in I.O.O.F. cemetery. The News joins in extending sympathy.

Information from Biography: CARICO J. BARNHOUSE, son of Phillip and Mary Ann (Goff) Barnhouse was born in Virginia, May 23, 1831. Phillip D. Barnhouse was born in Virginia August 7, 1805 and was by occupation a farmer. After his marriage in 1830 he immigrated to Ohio, located in Meigs County, where he died in 1847. His wife, was born February 6, 1802, and by her marriage became, the mother of six children, four of whom are now living. She is now residing in Pike Co. Ohio. The oldest child to this marriage was Carico J. Barnhouse, the subject of this sketch. He was married in Meigs Co., OH. October 30, 1856 and April 15, 1866, he and family moved to Missouri, locating in St. Francois County on his present farm. To their marriage was born seven children, all now living: Sarah Ann, wife of William Warsing; Amanda Jane, wife of Newton Williams; Daniel T.; Mary Emma, wife of A. Johnstone; John N.; Charles C. and Ira E. The mother of these children was born October 20, 1840. Carico J. Barnhouse, at the breaking out of the late war, volunteered in the Seventh Ohio Cavalry. He is at present the owner of 260 acres of land situated one mile south of Doe Run lead Mines. He is conservative in his political views, voting for principle rather than for party. Mrs. Barnhouse is a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

Information from Biography:  Caricco James BARNHOUSE was born in West Virginia on 23 May 1831 and died 11 September 1920, aged 89 years. He married Emily "Emma" WOOD in Meigs County Ohio on 30 October 1856. Services were conducted by J. Trainer. Emily WOOD was the daughter of Joshua and Sarah (MASH) WOOD. They are enumerated in the 1860 Census of Meigs County and in the 1870, 1880, and 1900 censuses of St. Francois County, Pendleton Township, Missouri. They moved to Missouri with their family on 15 April 1866 and owned 160 acres of land one mile south of the Doe Run Lead Mines, St. Francois County, Missouri. Both are buried at Doe Run Cemetery Doe Run, Missouri. Carrico served in the 7th Ohio Cavalry during the Civil War and he helped build the Temple Methodist Church, Columbia Township.

OBITUARY: From the "Farmington News," Newspaper, Farmington, Missouri. Friday September 25, 1925
Information from Obituary: Mrs. C. J. Barnhouse, nee Emma Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Wood, was born October 20, 1840 and died September 17, 1925 at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 29 days. On October 30, 1856 she was united in marriage to C. J. Barnhouse who preceded her in death exactly five years. To this union were born seven children, five of whom are now living. They are Mrs. Sarah Warsing of Arkansas; Mrs. Amanda Williams of Flat River; Mrs. Mary Johnson of Doe Run; John N. of Fredericktown; and Charles of Doe Run. The two deceased are Ira E. and Daniel T. Mrs. Barnhouse united with the Free Will Baptist Church at Doe Run where she remained a faithful member until her death. Funeral services were conducted at Old Pendleton Church on Friday Sept. 18th by Rev. Virgil Wilson. Interment was the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Information from Obituary:  "Mr. Andrew Cottrill was born in Columbia Township January 20, 1825, and died January 16, 1886, thereby being most 61 years of age. The subject of this sketch was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cottrill, Sr. who came from Virginia about the year 1820, one of the early settlers of the township. Andrew spent most of his time chopping cord wood in Scioto and Lawrence counties. He was married to Miss Joanna Barnhouse and moved to his present location in 1853. He became the father of one son and two daughters, all of whom survive him. He was very industrious and by his energy accumulated considerable wealth. During the last four years of his life consumption had gained a strong hold, thus ending his noble life. Rev Devore, the priest of Latter Day Saints, delivered the funeral services at his residence on January 18th, his text being, For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive -- 1 Cor. - 22 after which he was consigned to his last resting place in the Radcliff cemetery. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of all. PURDY."
