Information given to me by my mother Fara Fern DRAGOO ENGLISH and several other family members.
Anna Bell RITCHIE WREN B 11/14/1880 Arrowsmith, McLean CO., IL. D 12/27/1972 Manhattan Beach, L.A. CO., CA. first married to a WREN, second marriage to unk. BARNHOUSE M abt late 30's NE.; third marriage to STRUBBE.Anna Bell had one son who lived with her until she died, the family state that it was either BARNHOUSE'S or STRUBBES child. My mother and father visited with Anna Bell and BARNHOUSE husband on numerous occasions in NE. in the early 1940's. Mother stated that Anna Belle's husband was connected to the DRAGOO's that married two BARNHOUSE'S; Isabel DRAGOO B 02/24/1848 Buchanan, Berrien CO., MI. M William Harrison BARNHOUSE on 04/09/1865 in Berrien CO., MI. Isabel died on 04/12/1888 in Fairfield, Clay CO., NE; William died on September 25, 1876 in Unk. Nancy A. DRAGOO B 01/14/1866 Buchanan, Berrien CO., MI. married Samuel BARNHOUSE B 08/03/1878 in Unk. Ewel "Uel" DRAGOO B 11/20/1833 in Berrien CO., MI.M Jane M. BARNHOUSE B abt. 1813 D 09/29/1868 in Berrien CO., MI. I do have the marriage records of Nancy and Isabel.
I am searching census records for Anna Bell and her BARNHOUSE in NE. Then marriage records as soon as I find out which county they were in. It is believed they resided in Lincoln as they visited my grandparents there all of the time (John Earl DRAGOO and Addie Mae RITCHIE). As I locate more records I will send them.

Agnes Elizabeth Barnhouse b. 12 Dec 1911 Lamartine, (Perrysville), Ohio; d. 28 Nov 1999 Winterhaven, FL SS# 301-16-4808. She never bore children but was married and widowed twice. After she took care of her ailing (cancer) mother, she married fro the first time in her fifties. To Glenn Bright of the Carolinas until he passed away in the late 80s. Years later, she reunited with an old childhood sweetheart, Horace Rainsberger, who was also a widower and they married, only to have him pass away 6 days later. She was the sweetest person on this earth. She never said, mumbled, uttered nor made any facial remarks or comments that were derogatory of another living being. Agnes Elizabeth Barnhouse was known as 'Tibbie.'

They had children Alice 16 Aug 1876, Harvey (my grandfather) 3 Mar 1878-9 Mar 1928; Oakey 12 Feb 1880-11 Mar 1890, James Wesley 25 May 1882-15 Oct 1886; Lydia Marcelia 1 Apr 1884-16 Jul 1900, Bertha 22 Feb 1886-28 Sep1886, Bery H. 20 Oct 1887, W. O., 27 Feb 1890, Sarah Adeline 7 Apr 1892 and Vista Bell and Hilda Ann 18 Nov 1894. Vista Bell d. 21 Oct 1898. My grandfather Harvey Joseph married Clara Mooney on 6 Sep 1903 and to them were born Grace 1904, Herbert 1906, Frances 1908, Veronica 1910, Edna 1912, Willis 1914, James and John 1918, Jessie (my mother) 1919, Lawrence 1921 at the age of 19 in Battan death March as a prisoner of war in the Phillipines during WWII, Nelson 1923, Patrick 1924 and Mary 1926. The twins James and John died a week apart from the Great Flu epidemic of 1918.

Denise BAER, of Trenton, Illinois submitted the BARNHOUSE Iron County, Missouri History to be published in this Volume I, 1994 issue. On page 134, DR EDWARD L BARNHOUSE...Edward Lawrence BARNHOUSE was born 1867, near Brook, in Newton County, Indiana. He was the tenth child of Henry BARNHOUSE and Harriet Newell (STRAIGHT)....He attended public schools in Indiana and Ironton, Missouri. Edward came to Ironton with his parents in January 1883. He helped his parents in the mercantile business until he moved to Kirksville, Missouri in 1889 to attend school Edward was married 20 November 1889 in Kirksville to Mary Elizabeth (McDANIEL). She was born 02 August 1867 to Josiah McDANIEL and Mary J (IRELAND). To this union four children were born: Edward L BARNHOUSE Jr., Opal (BARNHOUSE), Maurine (BARNHOUSE), and Mary "Elizabeth" (BARNHOUSE). After Edward's marriage, he continued his education and received a degree of Doctor of Medicine from American Medical College in 1892 and also from Barnes Medical College in 1893, both located in St Louis, Missouri. He entered medical practice in Mt Sterling, Iowa from 1883 untill 1901. He returned to Ironton, Missouri in 1901 to open a medical practice and to close out his father's estate. Dr BARNHOUSE was a distinguished citizen of Iron County and had many professional accomplishments. Among them were; Judge of the Probate Court of Iron County. Food Inspector of Missouri, Food and Drug Commissioner of Missouri, Representative of Iron County in the 54th General Assembly of the Missouri Legislature 1927-1928 and at the time of his death he was Corner of Iron County. Dr BARNHOUSE'S wife, Mary Elizabeth died 12 October 1935 and he died 03 Feburary 1937. Both are buried in Masonic Cemetery in Iron County, Missouri....

Obituary Of John Barnhouse Runeral services for John Barnhouse were held Wednesday, July 12, at the Muehlethaler Feuneral Home. He died Suday, July 9, at the home of his son in Marion.
Mr. Barnhouse was born in Union Township, Fayette County, to James and Ellen Hawk Barnhouse October 16, 1901. He was raised near Brainard and attended the rural schools of Union Township. He worked several years for Fayettte County and for the town of Clemont until his retirement in 1963.
He was a memeber of the Brainard Baptist Church. His hobbies were gardening, flowers and cooking.
He was married in 1934 to Lila Gruver at Elgin. To this union five children were born, Mary (Mrs. Charles Sandeen) of Ogden, Wanda (Mrs. Kenneth Flatland), Burr Oak, Lew, Grand Valley, Colo.,Fred, Marion, and John, at home. He had eight grandchidren.
Preceding hime in death were five brothers, and two sisters & three half-brothers and one half-sister. Survivors include one bother, Clint, Post Falls, Idaho, & two sisters. Kate McCullum, Jacksonville, Fla., and Julia Boyer, Elgin.
Pallbearers were Norris Capper, Levi Molokken, Wayne Shipton, Leo Woods, Floyd Bergeson and Merle Alderson.
Card of Thanks - The recent bereavement which has visited our home has brought to us a greater appreciation of our friends. Such kindnesses and neighborly thoughtfulness can never be forgotten. Special thanks to Mr. Brendt Wahls, pallbearers, singers and to all that sent memorials, flowers, food and helped in any way. The John Barnhouse family.

Obituary of Frank Barnhouse
Frank Barnhouse, son of Ellen and James Barnhouse, was born January 8, 1885, in Randalia. He passsed away at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union on May 29 at the age of 72 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Julia Boyer of Brainard; Mrs. Kate McCollum of Chipley, Fla.; and (Anna) Mrs. Tom Boyer of Turlock, Calif.; and two brothers, John, of Clenmont, and Clint, of Post Falls, Idaho; also many neices and nephews and a host of friends. He spent most of his life in Fayette county. Funeral services were held Friday, May 31, at the Muehlethaler funeral home in Elgin, Mr. L.H. Brandt of Garnavillo in charge. Interment was made at the Pleasant Grove cemetery. Casket bearers were Marshall helms, Willis Lyons, Poger Reeder, Ronald Bantz, Andy Grimes and Clem Meyers.

Their only child was Mary Madeline Barnhouse, born Sept. 15, 1925 in Tacoma, WA and died June 12, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mary married Joseph Orval Hoff Jan. 9, 1942 in Tacoma, WA. I am James Robert Barnhouse III. My paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Barnhouse (McKeen), I know she has @ least 1 sibling (Mary Ann Watson, of 789 Brice Rd Reynoldsburg, OH). My paternal grandfather is James Robert Barnhouse. I am unaware of my great-grandparents. James, my grandfather has 3 siblings John of Cambridge (d. circa 2000), Mary Lee of Cambridge, and another brother Junior who died at Iwo Jima. James and Elizabeth had 3 children. James R II (1960), Sarah Ann(1961), and Jane Marie (1967?).
